Challenge # 119 - going green!

Going green is all the rage these days -- bust out all your green products (paper, embellies, whatever) and create a green layout. Even better if you use recycled or environmentally friendly products!

Don't forget to post a link to your layout on the challenge thread on 2peas!

Our layouts

Paula:
Using green is not a struggle for me. If you peek in my gallery you will see that I rarely make a page without green in it somewhere! It's my happy color. I dug into my stash and pulled out some green papers, embellies and a fun green polka dot alpha for this layout. I find it easier to work with one color when there isn't a whole lot of that color in the photo so you have some contrast - in my photos you'll see that pink is the color that pops out at you the most and pink and green make a wonderful combination!

Lisa:
Green is one of my favorite colors to scrap with so I was very excited about this challenge. And since I wanted to incorporate the environmentally friendly aspect of the challenge as well, I decided to do a digital page. The layout is based on a template and all products are available at The LilyPad.

Debbi T:

I love green, too! It really is like a neutral in that it goes with just about any other colors. I really dug into my stash to find these eyelets that have been gathering dust for years. I've also been neglecting my huge stash of Heidi Swapp letters ever since Thickers invaded my scrap room. This is my sister's goofy cat, Chewy, and this page is going into my book of silly family photos. My page is based on a sketch by Janelle Richmond for Sketch This!

Debi :
Well, I decided to use green AND recycled products for my layout.
The circles up the left side were made from dipping a paper towel holder in paint.
The butterflies are made from that same paper towel holder. I just opened it up, traced some chipboard butterflies onto it and cut them out! I then used some Stickles to outline the edges.
Papers are from the Crate Paper line Bliss :)

Challenge #118 Label It! {October 26 - November 9}

So it seems EVERYWHERE you look in the scrapbooking industry there labels!!
Labels stickers are taking over. They are being used for journaling, titles, dates....you name it!!!

So my challenge to you is this:
use 10 labels stickers on a page.

Can't wait to see how creative you can get!
Be sure to post your layout to the thread at 2 Peas and share it with us all :)

Debi: I have been wanting to try using many labels all lined up for my journaling!
A day in Boston with my family gave me the perfect pictures for this.

Debbi T: I love labels, but it was certainly a challenge to use 10! Like Debi, I used the labels for journaling. This is my adorable nephew who takes the funniest photos (unintentionally). This is going into my book of silly family photos!

Elizabeth: I decided to use the labels in a cluster as an embellishment collage. And the date is correct, I'm from Canada (and I am pretty proud of the fact that I have Thanksgiving pictures scrapped already! :P)

Challenge #1.1.7. {October 12 - October 25}

Hello everyone, welcome to another challenge of 'How Much is Too Much'.

For this week's challenge...

1 stamped image

1 felt embellishment

7 stickers (non-letter stickers, although you may also use those on your layout)

Pretty easy challenge this week, I hope you will play along!

Just post your layout to the Pub at 2peas so we can see your creation, happy creating!

Elizabeth: I had this layout half completed on my desk for a while now, this challenge was just what I needed to put the finishing touches on it.

Paula: I think I cheated a little here -- I knew I had to use a stamp but I didn't realize it was a stamped image -- I used stamped letters. Oops! The goofy title was was inspired by the October Afternoon paper! It fits with the goofy kids! I made the pear embellishment from an American Crafts felt tulip.

Debbi T: I was a little short on time this week, so I combined this challenge with Janelle's Sketch This challenge. I loved that we had to use stickers because I have so many in my stash. I feel like I cheated a little by using word/phrase stickers and label stickers, since I use those a lot, but I was pleased to use some of my more "cutesy" stickers, including that Cristina Cole border sticker that's been in my stash for at least half a decade.
That's me when I was nine. I don't know how I ripped the hole in my knee, but I'm sure I was probably very upset about it. Note to self: Ask mom about the hole in my tights.

Lisa: I was a little worried about this challenge when I saw that it included stamps. I love to collect them but am always afraid to use them on a layout. Once I started digging through my stash I found some great journaling tags to use! I think I went a little overboard with the felt and stickers, but if you gotta, you might as well use it, right?

Michelle: I purged 99% of my stamps recently; so I cheated just a little by using a date stamp. However, to make up for it, I used 2 pieces of felt (these American Crafts felt pieces have been in my stash forever) and 9 stickers (which includes some of my favorite Scenic Route Grafton stickers).

Challenge #116 - 5-4-3-2-1-Blast Off {September 28th - October 11}

5-4-3-2-1 Blast Off!!!

Your layout must contain at least:

5 sentences in your journaling
4 pieces of chipboard
3 words in your title
2 photo corners
1 shaped paper

Michelle: Love this die cut shaped Fancy Pants pattern paper! The photo corners (which happen to be some oldie Heidi Swapp photo corners I have had forever) were a little too light. So I added some Ranger Crackle to them. I also added crackle to the the star that is dotting the letter i.

Lisa: I really loved this challenge because it once again got me digging for things I haven't used in a long time. Mainly chipboard and photo corners. I have to admit that it took me a couple minutes to remember what I could do to dress up the chipboard.

Debbi T: Since I scrap 8 x 8, I almost always have to make my own shaped paper. I found some 8 x 8 bracket-shaped paper by Making Memories, but the colors weren't working for this layout, so I scanned it and printed it on the back of the brown polka dot paper and cut it out. I was happy to see photo corners on the challenge because I have a gazillion of them and always forget to use them.

Paula:
I went digital with this challenge -- I didn't have any digital photo corners so I improvised with ribbon.Elizabeth: another great challenge! thanks Michelle! I was happy to get these April birthday pictures scrapped, finally!

Debi:
Wow, I did a 2 pager....yay me!!
Have had these pics from last winter hanging around & figured I should get them scrapped before our next snow pictures;)

Challenge #115 - 20/20 Vision {September 14th - 27th}

Do you remember eyelets? Still have some in your stash? How about brads? I {heart} brads and have quite a collection in all shapes, sizes and colors. So for this challenge I would like you to use 20 eyelets or brads on your layout. And feel free to mix and match as well, just make sure they total 20.
Elizabeth: I also {heart} brads and was excited for this challenge. I decided to use a variety of brads; some glossy, some glittery, some matte, to make the sun pop off my page. Such a fun accent!

Lisa: I really hoped to use eyelets for this challenge but things didn't work out, mainly because my Crop A Dile didn't reach as far as I needed it to. Maybe one of these days I will invest in a Big Bite. So I ended up with brads from American Crafts and Basic Grey and used them as bullets in my journaling.

Debbi T: I thought it would be fun to decorate the centers of flowers with clusters of brads. That's my husband, brother-in-law, and my mom's husband being total cheeseballs at the luau cook-out we had for my sister's birthday last month. I love that Dan's wearing the oven mitt in the picture. I think these guys were having way too much fun with the coconut boobies!

Michelle: I love using brads! I added glittery orange brads to the Bazzill bats' eyes. And a few extra Making Memories bat brads are flying around too. If you are counting and looking for the 20th brad, it is actually the dot for the questions mark. :)

Debi:
Love brads & stitching on my pages. This challenge let me do them all on the same page....thanx Lisa:)

Challenge #114 - Bling Bling! {August 31 - Spetember 14}

I don't know about you. But I love sparkly bling. And my huge stash of bling is proof.

I challenge you to get out that bling and bling up a layout! Make it sparkle!

Michelle: I have a ton of this Heidi Swapp bling in my stash. I added some bling to the centers of the flowers and all around the scalloped edge.

Lisa: I am not usually a big bling person, but I do have some of it in my stash. I had a few winter pictures still hanging around begging to be scrapped and I thought they would be perfect for this challenge. I sprinkled lots of crystals around to represent falling snow, added some glittered alphas and some fancy snowflakes.

Elizabeth: I love glitter letter stickers and these black Making Memories ones are some of my faves, i also added a glittery star for some extra bling...
